We are pleased to announce that Olympic boxer Jamel Herring is now part of the PG Sports Team. Herring a native of Coram, New York but now lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. His current record is 16-2 with 9 knockouts.
Jamel Herring had a different path to professional boxing than most. He started boxing while he was in high school. After graduating high school Herring wasn't sure what he wanted to do, so his good friend Stephen encouraged him to join the US Marine Corps in 2003. While in the Marine Corps Herring would still train for boxing. He was deployed twice to Iraq in 2005 and 2007. In 2006 Herring joined the All-Marine Corps boxing team. He won a silver medal at the 2010 World Military Games and took a gold medal at the 2011 and 2012 Armed Forces Championships while a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Which lead to a spot in the Olympic qualifiers. Herring was an underdog but ending up beating everyone and earned his spot on the U.S. Olympic Boxing Team becoming the first active duty marine to qualify for the US boxing team since 1992. Not only did Herring make the team he was named the captain of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Boxing Team. The 2012 Olympics were held in London, England, and even though Herring lost his fight to Daniyar Yeleussinov it was a great experience. After the 2012 London Olympics, it was time for Herring to turn pro. Now, 16-2 as a pro, Herring is ready to make a splash in 2018!
We, at PG Sports, are also looking forward to joining forces to support and work with Jamel Herring for continued greatness!"I just want to say it’s an honor to be apart of the PG Sports Team.
